PRE and POST PURGE Mode
The intent is to ensure that while the building is operating your ventilation schedule should assist in removing bioburden during, pre-, and post- occupancy of the building. Methodology
OCCUPIED Hours
Increase Outdoor Air intake to the maximum that the HVAC equipment will allow while maintaining indoor temperatures and humidities at Occupied setpoints (Humidity >40<60%RH) Your Direct Digital Control system can be programmed to automatically perform this Sequence of Operation during Pandemic Mode of Operation
NOTE: This will require disabling Demand Controlled Ventilation (CO2 based) or other ventilation control methodologies (People Counting, etc.)
SUPPLY AIR RESET (Variable Air Volume Systems ONLY)
Reset the supply air temperature as high as possible (60 degrees maximum) to encourage VAV terminal units to deliver higher quantities on ventilation air to the space. Your Direct Digital Control system can be programmed to automatically perform this Sequence of Operation during Pandemic Mode of Operation
UNOCCUPIED Hours
Decrease OA intake to the Minimum OA damper position while maintaining indoor temperatures and humidities at UNOCCUPIED setpoints (Humidity >40<60%RH) Your Direct Digital Control system can be reprogrammed to perform this Pandemic Sequence of Operation.
Implications of Enhanced Ventilation in Office Buildings
“International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health”
- The public health benefits of enhanced ventilation far exceed the per occupant economic costs in the U.S.
- Increased productivity of an employee is over 150 times greater than the increase in resulting energy costs
- Environmental costs are also relatively minor
